Statement from our Director
Evolutions takes the potential threat to the health and well-being of our staff, clients, and families of clients very seriously. We have therefore enacted a policy to promote a safe and healthy workplace for both employees and clients, enable the ethical the ethical provision of ABA services under the onus of “First, do no harm”, and protect clients that come to us seeking help. We are required to provide the support to our clients that they need. In many circumstances our clients require close proximity to demonstrate behavior, touch as a means to prompt responses, removal of masks to briefly demonstrate speech, and to address behavior that involves children’s mouths such as mouthing objects, biting, or spitting.
The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has determined that COVID-19 poses a “direct threat,” defined as a significant risk of substantial harm to the health or safety of the individual or others that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation."
The Behavioral Analyst Certification Board (BACB) & Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have listed individuals of all ages with Developmental Disabilities as “high risk” of becoming very sick if infected by the virus. Our workforce and the families of clients are included in the high, or very high risk categories. For these reasons, we have enacted precautions addressing the following subjects:
Masks, Hygiene, and Safe Practices
Cleaning
Sick Personnel, Children, and/or Families
Scheduling
Travel
Vaccination
If you wish to better understand our policies and current practices, please feel free to speak with your coordinator.
